[The Art of Bruno Walter, 1957-1961 (12)] The stereo recordings made by Bruno Walter (1876-1962) between 1957 and 1961, the last years of his life, are the most important performances in his vast discography. The recordings are a “world heritage” masterpiece, the fruit of his long musical experience and deep insight. These early stereo masterpieces were recorded with state-of-the-art equipment and technology at the American Legion Hall, which has excellent acoustics, through a series of meticulous rehearsals and sessions with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, which was specially organized for this purpose. These recordings have been newly remixed and remastered for the first time in 21 years since 1998, and are available for distribution from the “Bruno Walter Complete Stereo Recordings SA-CD Hybrid Edition” (7 volumes, available 2019-20), which won a special category and special award at the 58th “Record Academy Awards” in 2020. This is the second time he has performed with Francescatti, following Mozart’s 3rd and 4th concertos in 1958 and Brahms’ Double Concerto in 1959. The beautifully played solos emphasize classical discipline, and the rich nuances that the orchestra colors are unique to Walther. This recording was made possible by request from Japan, and has long been an immortal classic from the analog era. ●DSD remastering (2019/20)
