This collection of field recordings focuses on the gong music of the Bahnar and Kho tribes living in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam. Yasuhiro Morinaga has been conducting fieldwork in Southeast Asia in recent years to investigate gong culture, visiting ethnic minority villages and recording numerous gong music recordings. Following the first and second volumes of gong music of the Ede, he now releases field recordings of the Bahnar and Kho tribes. The Bahnar, who live in the northeastern and southern parts of the Central Highlands of Vietnam, belong to the Mon-Khmer language family. This recording was recorded by sound designer Yasuhiro Morinaga during his fieldwork in central Vietnam in May and August of 2017.
