This is a recording of Richter’s late concerts at the Schwetzingen Music Festival in Germany in 1994. At the time, Richter was on a long concert tour, giving recitals at various venues. In this concert, works by Grieg, Franck, and Ravel are performed, but while Grieg’s “Piano Concerto” had been performed many times since his youth, the “Lyric Pieces” was a work he only began performing in his later years. Here, too, he takes a cautious approach to his playing. The recording has been digitally remastered from the original tapes in the SWR collection.Naxos Japan
