Previously unreleased music composed for Comme des Garcons shows. Seigen Ono first composed music for the show in September 1987 for five seasons, and was in charge of music direction until October 1989. In March 1996, the show became a “presentation” (rather than a show) for 300 people in a smaller venue, where no “sound” was used and only the tense sound of the camera shutter was heard. In March 1997, Ono was called upon again, and in response to a request to use “sounds” but not “music,” he assigned over 70 different “sounds” to a sampling keyboard, using fragments of performances, very short phrases composed by the artist, and the sounds of daily life as fragmentations, and improvising the fragmentations as the show progressed (see the “Sound Fragmentations” section below). The fragmentation of “sounds” was arranged (performed) by improvisation as the show progressed. The venue was replaced by a new venue, and he was in charge of music direction until October 2004. However, since 1998, he has not created original music, but “selected” music. One exception was a 45-minute live guitar improvisation before the start of the show (scheduled for 15 minutes, but often the show was delayed). The CD was re-mastered using the latest technology. Cover design by Tsuguya Inoue.
