The legendary Budokan concert of Sadao Watanabe, one of Japan’s leading saxophone players, is performed again with a big band sound. The reunion with his friend Dave Grusin for the first time in 36 years is also a hot topic! –Sadao Watanabe is a world-renowned saxophone player who became the first Japanese jazz musician to perform at the Budokan in 1980 (3 days). The concert, which featured Dave Grusin, Steve Gadd, and others with an orchestra, was a hit, and the live album “How’s Everything” recorded at the Budokan became a long seller. More than 30 years later, in 2016, Watanabe performed a concert at Orchard Hall, which was a big hit, with a big band style sound, which he has been working on in recent years. The big band, led by Yoichi Murata and featuring guests such as arranger and pianist Dave Grusin, who worked on the hits “California Showers” and “Morning Island,” as well as members of Robent Ford and the Yellow Jackets, re-performed songs from “How’s Everything”. The band performed the songs from “How’s Everything” with a big band led by Yoichi Murata.
