Blue Note Records has announced an April 25 release of On View At The Five Spot Café: The Complete Masters, a special Tone Poet Vinyl Edition of guitarist Kenny Burrell’s sublime 1959 hard bop summit with drummer Art Blakey. The expanded 3-LP present the complete recorded performances for the first time in any format including six previously unissued tracks.
On View At The Five Spot Café: The Complete Masters expands Kenny Burrell’s 1959 live album featuring Art Blakey, Tina Brooks, Roland Hanna, Bobby Timmons, and Ben Tucker to a 2-CD and 3-LP set as part of the Tone Poet Vinyl Series including 6 previously unissued tracks. Produced by Joe Harley, the album has been remastered from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray and comes with a booklet featuring never-before-seen Francis Wolff photos, a new interview with Burrell in conversation with Don Was & more.
