:
Maisky, the poet of cello, dedicates this collection of his masterpieces to his beloved child. Maisky’s first new album in seven years is the fourth collection of pieces dedicated to his beloved children. The first collection, “Lullaby” (recorded in 1987 and released in 1990), was dedicated to his eldest daughter, Lily, with whom he is performing this time, and was an exceptionally big hit. He has dedicated “Romance” (recorded in 1990 and released in 1991) to his first son Sasha, and “Spain in My Heart” to his second son. Maisky, who now has six children, including a third son, a fourth son, and a second daughter, has long since released an album dedicated to her own children. This time, Maisky breaks new ground by recording Mahler’s Adagietto with Maisky’s multiple recordings except for the harp. The non-Mahler pieces on the studio recording are performed with his eldest daughter, Lily. The Schubert on the live Lugano recording is with his eldest daughter Lily and his eldest son Sasha. And, to our delight, the 2008 live recording in Lucerne features Argerich, Jansen, and Rachlin. This is a commemorative recording of their visit to Japan. [Performed by] Mischa Maisky (cello), Sophie Harinck (harp[1]), Lily Maisky (piano[2]-[12]), Sasha Maisky (violin[12]), Janine Jansen (violin[13][14]), Julien Rachlin (viola[13 ][14]), Martha Argerich (piano[13][14]) Recorded: September 2017 in Belgium ([1]-[11]), June 2013 in Lugano (live) ([12]), January 2008 in Lucerne (live) ([13][14])
