[universounds presents DEEP JAZZ REALITY] Koichi Matsukaze is a talented saxophonist/flutist who has been shaking up the Japanese jazz scene since the 1970s, playing with the Livelihood Improvement Committee and Takeo Moriyama’s group. This is his third album as a leader, and he fully demonstrates his unique flavor on the sharp and fast “Under Construction” and the ballad “What Mama Is…She Is Out To Lunch,” which features a sharp-edged brow. Originally released in 1981. Supervision and commentary: Yusuke Ogawa. This is a regular-priced edition of a title included in the “NIPPON JAZZ SPIRITS: Japanese Jazz Masterpieces” campaign held in January 2021.
