[Deutsche Grammophon Best 100 premium] Fritschaj died prematurely in 1963 at the age of 49. He was active from the monaural recording era to the early stereo era, and recorded a large repertoire of music one after another. His art changed drastically after his illness. This “Pathetique” is particularly significant as the first work of his recovery after his second operation and the first stereo recording of the “Pathetique” for Deutsche Grammophon. The “Pathetique” is a monument to his era, and this HR-cut recording is the first stereo recording of the “Pathetique” made by Deutsche Grammophon. Recorded: September 1959, Berlin * HR cutting based on DSD master [Performed by] Rundfunk Symphonieorchester Berlin, Conductor: Ferenc Fritschaj
