A collection of works by Tafreshpour, one of Iran’s leading composers. His works, with their exotic melodies, combine Western European musical culture with the fascinating music of Iran, sometimes dreamlike like Schumann and at other times as sprightly as Bartók. The “Harp Concerto: Persian Echoes,” also a first for Iran, is, as the title suggests, a blend of Western and Eastern traditions, and the mysterious sound of the orchestra enveloping the delicate harp music, which is like the sound of the wind, is very enchanting. Eiras” describes sounds dancing in the vast desert, “Lucid Dreams” is accompanied by harp improvisations, and “Yearning in C” reflects Tafreshpur’s childhood memories.
