A collection of works by noted Russian composer Artyomov. The symphony “The Road to Olympus,” which is also the title of this collection, is a popular work that has been previously released on other labels. It is a large-scale work that is typical of Artyomov, who is said to have added colors of Mahler, Honegger, and Messiaen to the tradition of Russian music, and is a must-listen as the sound gradually rises from the mysterious sounds of chaos at the beginning. Prelude to Sonnets” is Artyomov’s only piano work. It is performed by the prodigious Batakov. The “13 Concertos” conducted by Rozhestvensky is also a work of high perfection.
