Vinci’s Abandoned Didone, composed for the Teatro delle Dame in Rome and premiered to great acclaim during the 1726 Carnival season, marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between Vinci and Metastasio, who, over the next four years, created more than five libretti for Vinci Over the next four years, Metastasio produced no less than five scripts for Vinci.
