Bacharach’s first album in 28 years, 2006, is a miracle from one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century. The album features a wide variety of guests, including Dr. Dre, Chris Botti, Elvis Costello, and Rufus Wainwright, and Bacharach himself took on the challenge of writing lyrics for the first time in his life. Bacharach’s first attempt at songwriting, the song was widely talked about at the time as a shocking work that sharply examined contemporary society with its various problems. It won the 48th Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album. The album is now being reissued as part of the “Legacy Recording Series,” a series of Blu-specCD2 releases of classic albums.
