Mikietin is regarded as one of the busiest composers in contemporary Poland. He works in a wide range of genres, from traditional chamber, orchestral, and vocal music to electronic music, has collaborated with Krzysztof Wolikowski, director of the Cult Theater, for over 20 years, and has worked on projects with other performing artists. Since 2000, he has also worked on film soundtracks, some of which have won national awards, making him an indispensable figure in the Polish film industry. His “Symphony No. 2” was commissioned by the Polish Society of Composers, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in the spring of 2007. Composed in the picturesque city of Kuznica, where he spends several weeks each year, the work is an expressive masterpiece that incorporates impressions of the mysterious landscape of the Baltic Sea and sounds from the church. The Flute Concerto, composed for Lukas Dugosz, is a work of dizzying tempo changes.Naxos Japan
