Debut album by the talented and beautiful trumpeter Aya Takazawa. Aya Takazawa performed with her own band at the Heritage & New Orleans Jazz Festival 2016, one of the largest jazz festivals in the United States, and this album was recorded with members of the festival. This is her first full-length album with a sub-concept of New Orleans, focusing on New Orleans tunes, with an emphasis on the roots of each song, and including Aya Takazawa’s original compositions. The album bridges the gap between modern and traditional sounds by incorporating the concept of New Orleans in the subject matter and feel of the modern sounding songs, as well as songs recorded locally in the New Orleans style as they are. The modern style songs are also performed by sturdy local New Orleans musicians, making them a distinctly different listening experience from the contemporary music of recent years.
