Mrs. Miller
:
55 years after the music scene shook with laughter, two of the greatest hits of the century from 1966 are now available! Mrs. Miller (real name Elva Miller) was born on October 5, 1907 in Missouri and was 59 years old at the time of her ‘debut’. Her introductory comment in Billboard magazine’s chart book straightly describes her as a “Tone-deaf singer” (such a bland thing to say). She is treated like a ‘ketty old lady’ (and rightly so). How did Mrs. Miller, who was supposed to have lived a long and peaceful life with her husband and children in Claremont, California, end up in the spotlight? She even laughed while singing “Downtown”, or pretended to be Sinatra from the introduction of “Stranger in the Night”. He came to the stage and whistled his favorite tune, which made me feel as if I was going to be shattered. It’s more like a ‘nebaneba’ (abbreviation below) than ‘Ipanema’s Daughter’.If you listen to the whispered “Dabba Dabbaaaa~~” between songs, you will not be able to stand still! However, it’s really refreshing to see a first-rate musician (?) sing through any genre of music in such a beautiful manner without regard for other people’s inconvenience (?). It’s really refreshing to hear a first-rate musician (hired for the money?) sing through the song so beautifully. Mrs. Miller, who ignored the beat and the stylish performance by the first-rate musicians (hired for money?), was so pleased to be alone. Excerpts from the commentaryCommentary: Toru Ueshiba
