The Thorens TD 1600 blends the brand’s classic heritage with modern 21st-century technology. While it closely resembles the iconic 160 series with its traditional wooden plinth, two-part platter with an inner belt, thick rubber mat, arm board, and acrylic dust cover, it incorporates numerous innovations under the surface.

This is supplied with the Thorens TP 160 9″ radial tonearm.

The balanced XLR outputs provide a professional-grade connection. Because the phono signal requires substantial amplification, it is highly susceptible to electrical interference. The balanced XLR connection minimises this interference, ensuring the clearest possible signal between the turntable and the phono preamplifier. To take advantage of the True Balanced Connection, the turntable must be fitted with a moving coil (MC) cartridge.

Thorens TP 160 – High-End Tonearm with Knife-Edge Bearing

The TP 160 is a nine-inch radial tonearm in the medium-weight category. Its optimal mass distribution and robust construction make it an ideal partner for high-quality cartridges. The tonearm features a newly designed standard headshell, but it also supports any other headshell with an SME bayonet or integrated cartridges such as the Ortofon SPU. To account for slight variations in the effective lengths of different cartridges, the arm tube includes an axial adjustment, ensuring precise overhang at all times.
