This is Chicago soul goodness! Billy Butler’s Okay Masterpieces! Billy Butler, whose brother Jerry was a great singer who built the golden age of Chicago soul, proved that his masterpiece is not Pride but Okay on this album (1966). His vocals are not powerful, but they match the Chicago sound that Carl Davis created in the 1960s. Five of the songs, including the biggest hit, “I Can’t Work No Longer,” are by Curtis Mayfield. A bonus B-side single has been added.
