SUN is the ninth studio album from Cat Power. Released in 2012, Chan Marshall moved on from her collaborative forays into Memphis soul and Delta blues. She wrote, played, recorded and produced the entirety of SUN by herself, a statement of complete control echoed in the song’s themes. The record’s narrative arc is deeply American in its spaciousness and optimism, but the music is definitely modern and global.
