Cellist Yang Wenxin and conductor Liu Xiaocha both live in Germany as of 2017; the two studied music at conservatories in Berlin and Vienna, and due to their close age, they have a strong musical affinity, and this 2016/17 season of the Taiwan Philharmonic Their collaboration produced a wonderful performance. Elgar, who moved the audience with great enthusiasm; Schumann, whose dialogue between conductor and cellist is beautiful; and Korngold, whose music we don’t often get to hear; all three composers stand out with their distinctive characteristics in this superb performance.Naxos Japan
