With a sound like fine antique furniture and appealing vocals with a strong core, Captured Tracks delivers modern vintage pop. Raised by a writer/producer father and casting director mother, Maury Birch grew up surrounded by Hollywood musicals and the sounds of Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone. Her debut album is now available on Captured Tracks. After relocating from Los Angeles to Austin and beginning to write songs in earnest, she has developed a sound arrangement and guitar sound that is unlike any newcomer. Her sound is like fine antique furniture, influenced by many of the songs she listened to at home as a child, and the Jazz vocal style she learned in music school, blended with her internal genes to create an extraordinary talent.
